Creator Terms
In short
- Sell only worlds and models you have the rights to. Library models can be in a sold world, but the world is what you sell, not the model files.
- Genmodic keeps 20% of each sale, plus the card fee. Stripe pays the rest to your bank.
- Buyers keep access for good, including your updates, so a world people have bought can't be deleted, and a model listing can be hidden but not deleted.
- You must be 18 or older, on Pro or above, with a Stripe payouts account.
1. Who can sell
Anyone with a profile can publish free models to the marketplace. To sell worlds or models you need to be 18 or older, on a plan with the commercial licence (Pro, Studio or Education / Enterprise), and have a Stripe Connect payouts account that Stripe has approved. You agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which is between you and Stripe. These Creator Terms add to the Terms of Service.
2. What you may sell
- Worlds you made, made from Genmodic's library, or made with content you have a written right to sell (your own models, licensed assets that allow resale inside a product, and so on).
- Library models (free library and premium packs) may appear in worlds you sell, as part of the world. Buyers can play them in your world; they don't get the files. You may not sell a world whose main purpose is to hand over library models, such as a “world” that's just a pack laid out on the ground.
- Models you list must be ones you made or have a written right to sell. Library models, premium-pack models and models you got from the marketplace can't be listed (Genmodic refuses a model already listed by another creator).
- CC-BY models need credit: name them in the world's description (Help › Credits lists each one's title, author and licence).
- No content you don't have the rights to, nothing the content rules forbid, and nothing that misleads buyers.
You confirm that each world and model you sell meets these rules, and you're responsible for claims that it doesn't.
3. Listings
You set the price, from $1 to $100. The title, description, pictures, trailer and tags must honestly show what's in the world or model. You can have up to 2,000 models listed; listings go live at once. A world must open and work when bought. If you substantially change a world after it's been sold, it should still be what buyers paid for.
4. Fees and payouts
- For each sale, Genmodic's fee is 20% of the price plus an estimate of the card fee (2.9% + 30¢). You receive the rest. For example, on a $4.99 world or model you get $3.55. The app shows the split before you set a price.
- Each sale is charged by Genmodic through Stripe and transferred to your connected account, less Genmodic's fee; Stripe pays it out to your bank on its usual schedule.
- Taxes. Where Genmodic must collect sales tax or VAT as a marketplace, we add it to the buyer's price and pay it; it doesn't come from your share. World and model checkouts don't calculate tax yet; turn on Stripe Tax for them before launch. You're responsible for your own income taxes. Stripe sends the tax forms the law requires (for example Form 1099-K in the US).
- We may change the fee with at least 30 days' notice by email. Sales before the change keep the old fee.
5. Your promise to buyers
A buyer gets permanent access to play the world on Genmodic, including your later updates. A buyer of a model may use it in any of their own worlds, including worlds they share or sell, but can't list it again or export it. So:
- A world that has been bought can't be deleted. You can make it private, which stops new sales; buyers keep access.
- If you drop below Pro or your payouts stop working, your worlds and models stop selling, and buyers keep access.
- If you close your account, worlds people have bought stay available to them, under your handle, without your other account details. You give us the licence to keep them available for that purpose.
6. Refunds and disputes
We refund buyers as set out in Plans, purchases and refunds: for example, when a world doesn't work, isn't as described, or is removed for breaking the rules. When we refund a sale, what you received is taken back from your Stripe balance, and Genmodic gives up its fee; Genmodic bears the card fee. If a buyer's bank reverses a sale (a chargeback), the buyer loses access; today Genmodic bears the reversed amount and Stripe's dispute fee, because the code doesn't take the transfer back on a dispute. Decide whether creators should bear it (then the code must reverse the transfer) and change this sentence to match.
7. Removal
We may stop a world or model from selling, or remove it, if it breaks these terms, the content rules or the law, or after a valid copyright notice (see Copyright and takedowns). We may pause payouts while we look into fraud, a large number of refunds or a legal claim. We'll tell you what happened and you can reply or appeal.
8. Our relationship
You're an independent seller, not our employee or partner. Genmodic provides the marketplace and collects payment for you; you're the seller of your worlds and models. Sales are destination charges on Genmodic's Stripe account, which may make Genmodic the merchant of record; confirm with the lawyer. We don't promise any level of sales or placement in Explore.
